XIII National Congress of Biotechnology and Bioengineering and the
VII International Symposium on the Production of Alcohols and Yeasts
That will take place in the worldwide famous Acapulco beach in the state of Guerrero, Mexico, from June 21st
to 26th, 2009. The Mexican Society of Biotechnology and Bioengineering (SMBB: Sociedad Mexicana de Biotecnología y Bioingeniería) was founded in 1982; and has been consolidated as the main scientific and professional group in the biotechnological field in Mexico. It has more than 800 professional and student members interested in the development and dissemination of biotechnology and bioengineering.
One of the most important activities of the SMBB is the National Congress, which is the most prominent Mexican meeting where research advances and new frontiers in different fields of Biotechnology and Bioengineering are discussed. In 2009, this congress will be held in conjunction with the VII International Symposium on the Production of Alcohols and Yeasts (Simposio Internacional de Producción de Alcoholes y Levaduras: SIPAL). In this Symposium, academic and industrial scientists from different countries and backgrounds discuss advances in alcohol, alcoholic beverages, biofuels and yeast production. SIPAL was originated in Cuba, and since 1995 it has been held every two years as an international event hosted by different countries. The last three meetings were carried out in Cuba, Brazil and Colombia, and for 2009 Mexico was chosen as the venue.
The meeting will be held at the Fairmont Acapulco Princess Hotel, located at Punta Diamante in the Revolcadero Beach, at Acapulco. This resort is near the international airport and the main bus transportation system of Acapulco. Abstract submission deadline is February 13, 2009. The list of invited speakers, accepted works and full schedule will be published in the same website during April 2009
